Cart abandonment is supported by Opensend's Shopify clients or Opensend pixel clients that are using our SDK and track add_to_cart and purchase events.
How does Opensend Cart Abandonment tracking work?
Opensend will monitor when a customer performs the "add_to_cart" event and will then send the customer's email to the desired destination in Other destinations after 4 hours If the "checkout" or "purchase" event does not occur.
If another "add_to_cart" event occurs for the same customer, the 4-hour countdown will be reset. If a purchase or checkout happens within 4 hours of the last add-to-cart event, we will not send a customer abandonment event.
It's important to note that this is not checkout abandonment, and it is based on the relationship between the "add to cart event and the "checkout" or "purchase" event
How to setup:
- Go to Other connections
- Click to add a new destination
- Click on Facebook (for example), you can use any of the available other integrations.
- Setup your Facebook ad account and select the desired custom audience where you want to receive emails of customers who abandoned the cart
- Finish integration setup
- Click on the green line that connects your traffic source with the Facebook destination
- Click on Add rule
- Filter name should be Event type
- Operator should be Equals
- For Event type select abandonment_cart
- Click on Save
After this setup is done, customers(emails) that have an add-to-cart event and do not return and finish purchase within 4 hours of the last add-to-cart event will be delivered to selected other destination.
