Reconnect, and how it differs from Connect
What is Reconnect?
In contrast with Connect, where we connect you with new visitors to your website who are not already subscribed to your list, Reconnect focuses on subscribers you already have who Klaviyo doesn’t recognize. Reconnect unifies fragmented customer identities across devices and browsers, ensuring more customers receive timely messages at critical decision-making moments.
How Reconnect Works:
- Recognizes existing profiles that Klaviyo misses – When an existing profile within your Klaviyo account visits your site from a new device or with a cookie-less browser, Klaviyo can’t recognize them. Opensend’s proprietary identity graph is able to recognize visitors across browser sessions and from multiple devices.
- Sends events to Klaviyo for these recognized profiles – Reconnect sends events to Klaviyo (i.e. if someone one browses a product, adds to cart, start a checkout).
- Enables event-based retargeting – Now you can use these Reconnect events to trigger your event-based flows in Klaviyo, for any profiles/events that Klaviyo missed.
What do I have to do to enable Reconnect?
Reconnect is easy to set up!
1. Set Up Event Tracking
Choose the setup that matches your platform:

Shopify (Opensend Shopify App v2)
No action needed — event tracking is automatically handled. -
Shopify (Opensend Shopify App v1)
You’ll need to migrate to the v2 app. Follow this guide:

You’ll need to implement the Opensend SDK for event tracking.

2. Integrate to Klaviyo and setup Reconnect flows:
- Configure the Reconnect<>Klaviyo integration
- Clone your existing events based flows to create ones that trigger from Reconnect events

You can see the results on the Reconnect Dashboard within your Opensend account.
